Holy Year of Mercy has started in Rome.

Mercy Jubilee starts today and will end November 20, 2016.

“Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I have often thought about how the Church can do more to make clear its mission of being a witness of mercy. It is a path that begins with a spiritual conversion.Therefore, I have decided to convene a special Jubilee focused on God’s Mercy.

It will be a Holy Year of Mercy!

We want to live in the light of the Word of God:”Be merciful, just as your father is merciful.”

With this words Pope Francis has announced the Extraordinary Jubilee Year for the Church on 13th March 2015 and today this big event has started with the hope to be for all believers a true moment of encounter with the mercy of God.

In the typical Pope Francesco’s style, the Jubilee will not be concentrated only in Rome, every diocese will celebrate its 29th Jubilee after the opening of the Holy Door  on the fiftieth anniversary of the closing of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council. 

Even if the Roman Church does not  want to be concentrated only on Rome City here in Rome everything is ready to host as many pilgrims as possible and a lot of big events are planned for the next months. If you are planning to visit Rome during the Jubilee hurry up, there are thousands of rooms still available in the city and prices are cheap if you stay in places well connected with the Vatican by Metro A like Martini Bed at Porta Furba Quadraro stop.
